Here are Nokia’s first Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia smartphones

Exciting Windows Phone 8.1 high-end smartphones tipped to support 2K displays

Nokia on Wednesday announced new smartphones during Microsoft’s Build 2014 keynote, the Lumia 930 and Lumia 630, with both devices expected to run Windows Phone 8.1 and to launch later this year. Additionally, the company said that its existing Lumia lineup will also be updated to Windows Phone 8.1 later this year via an over-the-air update.

The Lumia 930 will be the company’s next 5-inch flagship handset. The device will have a Full HD display, 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, built-in wireless charging mode, a 20-megapixel PureView camera with additional software features to improve photo quality, four microphones, and Windows Phone 8.1 running the show.

The Lumia 930 will launch this June starting with Europe for around $599, and it’ll be available in a variety of colors. The device won’t launch in the U.S., where the company will focus on other handsets, including the Lumia Icon.

In addition to the flagship model, the company also unveiled two mid-range models, including the Lumia 630 (single-SIM and dual-SIM 3G) and the Lumia 635 (4G). Both devices will be available for “much lower price points,” in five colors, with changeable shells. Either phone version will offer a 4.5-inch screen, 1.2GHz processor, and run Windows Phone 8.1 from launch – particularly interesting is the way Windows Phone 8.1 works on dual-SIM phones, generating distinct Tiles for each phone number. Also interesting is the fact that these affordable Lumia handsets will also pack a sensor to track fitness activities.

The Lumia 630 and 635 will be the first model that will sell with Windows Phone 8.1 on board this May starting with Asia – the phones will launch in the U.S. in July. Prices are set at $149 for single-SIM Lumia 630.
