While pricing information was not released, a spokesperson for the directory revealed that one of the five advertising levels is specifically for local, non-profit organizations and that the advertising level will be free of cost to these community organizations.
Non-profits can include charities, places of worship, community centres, shelters, youth clubs and more. Even governments, government agencies and other civic groups will be included. LocalHood.ca already features several Civic & Community locations such as the Alzheimer Society of Belleville-Hastings-Quinte in Ontario.
The NPO webpage on the directory is dedicated to the specific chapter location of the Alzheimer Society and it includes a map, a video, and a complete description of the charity with additional contact information for the group including a web link to their main website. The page is also optimized with social networking buttons such as the Facebook like icon. The group can also promote its events and classified ads on the site for free.
These NPO pages are indexed by the major search engines and they attract local web traffic through all types of relevant keyword related searches and not just a search for the name of the organization. For example, many visitors to the Alzheimer Society of Belleville page end up there after preforming a search on Google with keyword phrases like Belleville volunteer group. The NPO page gives the organization a stronger web presence which supports all of their promotional efforts including their website.
