This undated image provided by BioServe Space Technologies via Monarch Watch shows monarch butterflies in a small container aboard the International Space Station. The director of a monarch butterfly program at the University of Kansas says a project to send three butterflies into space was a success, although the three insects died after a week. The butterflies hatched and then fluttered around in a small container aboard the International Space Station, as hundreds of students across the country watched and conducted their own experiments.
