FASHION OF THE DECADE - Shlomo Perelman, owner of Pinsker's Judaica Center, displays a red string, or bendel, in his Pittsburgh shop on Feb. 2, 2005. Perelman wants to educate people about the significance behind a strand of red string worn around the wrist that's linked with Kabbalah, or Jewish mysticism. Celebrities like Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, the Beckhams and most notably Madonna were all spotted wearing the string, raising the ire of many Orthodox Jews who see the adoption of Kabbalah by non-Jewish pop figures as an abomination.
