Grand Rabbi of Haifa in Israel, Shear-Yashuv Cohen (R), is greeted by Pope Benedict XVI during a session of a synod of Catholic bishops at the Vatican. Shear-Yashuv, who became the first Jew to address a synod of Catholic bishops, said his presence sent a "signal of hope" after a history of "blood and tears" between Christians and Jews.
