Sandhill cranes come in for the night on the Platte River near Alda, Neb., Saturday, April 1, 2006. Hundreds of thousands of cranes stop for several weeks in the Platte River basin for food and rest before resuming their springtime migration north. Visiting a wildlife migration spot, such as the Platte River, is one of the recommendations in the new book '101 Places You Gotta See Before You're 12.'
