This October 2009 photo released by the Audubon Nature Institute shows Canal-igator — one of two baby white alligators recently donated to the institute and now being shown at the Louisiana Swamp exhibit of the Audubon Insectarium. They were found a few miles from the spot where a pod of 18 white hatchlings were found in 1987. Gators from that first group have become one of the signature animals at the Audubon Zoo and the Aquarium of the Americans, also owned by the institute.
