SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. (AP) — The high school alma mater of the Hofstra University student accidentally killed by a police officer is discussing the shooting with its graduating seniors.
Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Principal Carol Conklin-Spillane said Monday that graduating is a "scary proposition" in itself. So school staff is talking informally with the seniors about "any extra anxiety" related to the shooting.
Andrea Rebello's funeral will be Wednesday. The Hofstra University junior was killed Friday along with a gunman who was holding her hostage at her Long Island home.
She and her twin sister were 2010 graduates of Sleepy Hollow High School.
At the family's home in Tarrytown, a handwritten note requesting privacy is taped to the shingles next to the door.
