SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) -- Hundreds of construction contractors will be gathering this week in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for an annual three-day conference.

The Associated General Contractors of New York State expects more than 900 attendees at its statewide construction industry conference starting Tuesday at the Saratoga Hilton and City Center.

The trade organization has nearly 1,000 member contractors, subcontractors and others who bid for public and private large-scale construction projects across New York state.

On Wednesday, state Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald will address the conference's morning session along with the heads of the Empire State Development Corp. and the Thruway Authority.

The keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Mark O'Brien of Marilla, a Purple Heart recipient who lost his right arm and right leg during an attack in Iraq.
