NZ under-17s through to Oceania final

New Zealand's under-17 men's soccer team continued their unbeaten run at the Oceania championship, easing into the final with a 5-1 win over Vanuatu at Pago Pago in American Samoa.

The New Zealanders held a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals inside the first 20 minutes from James McGarry and Logan Rogerson.

Rogerson made it 3-0 to Jose Figueira's team in the 56th minute, heading home Sarpreet Singh's cross, before Vanuatu's Ronaldo Wilkins pulled a goal back with 23 minutes to go.

Connor Probert restored New Zealand's three-goal margin from the penalty spot seven minutes from time and Sam Wilson added his side's fifth of the day in the third minute of stoppage time.

The Kiwis will face Tahiti in the final on Tuesday after the Group B winners took a 3-2 victory over New Caledonia in the other semi-final.

A win at the Oceania tournament will earn New Zealand a spot in the under-17 World Cup in Chile later this year.
