Obama Doesn't Think You Believe You're a Victim

David Letterman lucked out. He is the first interview Obama had booked after Mother Jones' wild 47 percent video hit. Sitting with Letterman, he said he doesn't think 47 percent of the country is entitled at all. "There are not a lot of people," who think they're entitled, he said.

Obama, when first asked about the 47 percent remark, tells Letterman what he learned about 47 percent of the country when he was first elected. "When I won in 2008, 47 percent of the American people voted for John McCain," he says. "And what I said on election night was, 'Even though you didn't vote for me, I hear your voices, and I'm going to work as hard as I can to be your President.' And one of the things I've learned as President is you represent the entire country."

Also, he doesn't actually think everyone believes they're entitled the way Romney says. "There are not a lot of people out there who think they’re victims," he says. "There are not a lot of people who think they’re entitled to something."

Letterman brought up Obama's 2008 gaffe about Americans who "cling to guns and religion," but Obama admits "he had recognized that as a mistake and quickly apologized for it," according to the New York Times' Bill Carter.

When asked about other things not pertaining to Mitt's remarks, Obama said his weight is fine and that he's a little worried about his daughters growing up so fast, but it's not so bad because "they’re surrounded by men with guns." Well, at least they're safe.
