WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is raising money for his re-election campaign at a $40,000-per-ticket even in Washington.
Obama appeared at a fundraising event Friday with approximately 20 supporters at the Jefferson Hotel just a few blocks from the White House. The event was closed to reporters.
The president is engaged in an aggressive effort to raise campaign cash for his race against Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
Romney and his party raised more than $76 million last month. Obama's campaign reported that it and the Democratic Party raised $60 million for the month.
