Obama: Republicans will struggle to defend record

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is signaling he'll base part of his re-election campaign on an argument that Republicans are pushing discredited economic ideas.

In an interview with ABC News, Obama says the best strategy for economic revival is avoiding the Bush administration and financial community policies that led to the near-collapse of the economy in the fall of 2008.

Obama said the country has "an economy that was built on debt and flimsy financial deals." He added in the interview broadcast Friday that this is a strategy the Republican Party will have to defend this fall, "whether it's Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum, or somebody else,"

The president said, "Why we would want to adopt something that we just tried, and didn't work, doesn't make sense."

With their feet held to the fire most politicians would struggle to defend their record. Look, we need to drop this whole two party idea. All it does is allow plausible relief of responsibility. It wasn't Obama it was Bush, it wasn't Bush it was Clinton, it wasn't the democrats it was the republicans, ect, ect. That's all I ever hear is someone blaming someone else. How often do you see a high ranking politician say, " hey you guys I @#$@#$ up"?

Hmm Mr. President, why don't you ask helicopter Ben this very question? QE1 did not work. QE2 did not work. Operation twist is not working nor will QE3 work.

the only thing that will work is let the chips fall. let the people, businesses, that made bad decisions reap what they sow. it is far easier and less inexpensive to rebuild then to keep throwing good money after bad.

Huh? It will be Obama who will struggle to defend his failed record (higher unemployment than he promised, largest debt in history, failed stimulus, failed 'green' businesses, Gitmo never closed, etc, etc), This President lives in his own delussional world as sadly his supporters must, too, to still support and believe him.

"The worst president ever" shouldn't talk about records. Where is our AAA rating?

This coming from a guy who can't even run on his own record and fortunately for him the 'main stream' news media won't bring it up.

      Obama's "failed" record includes:
      Ended Iraq war
      Fatal capture of Osama
Toppled Ghaddafi without a single US life lost
      22 months of economic expansion
Plenty of tax cuts for "the 99'ers"
      Universal healthcare
      Auto industry recovery
Stimulus save country from 2nd "Great Depression"
      Housing industry now stablized
One of only 5 presidents to oversee a 50% increase in the Dow
A near 15% decrease in public sector jobs (translation: smaller government)
      Increase in domestic oil output
1st time in 15 years oil imports under 50%
And most recently, Iran is coming to the table to discuss slowing its nuclear program.
      .
The real question is what will republicans run on? That whole "beat Obama" thing may play well in the primaries, but it's not going to get any other them closer to the top office come November.
      .
While I welcome all replies, I'd encourage well thought out responses.
(In other words, all of you lunatics with nothing but "communist", "kenyan", divider" responses, please go play with the other kids with helments. Leave this conversation to the adults)

"Obama: Republicans will struggle to defend record" LMAO - if the craven liberal media would actually call Obama out on anything, HE would be struggling to defend his record. Instead, one article i (almost) read yesterday described him as a "visionary". Seriously. I guess he is if the vision for the USA looks like 1980s-era soviet union.

The president said, "Why we would want to adopt something that we just tried, and didn't work, doesn't make sense." Has this embicile not looked at Europe lately? He can't possibly think that he can run on his record.

Isn't that the conservative way, redefine and recycle the same old failures and blame everyone else?

If the state-run bleeding heartd liberal media actually called Obama on anything, it would be HE who would struggle to defend his record. Easily the most incompetent POS that ever held high office, a man of no fiber or backbone, amoral to the core, US hating and Karl Marx loving, pompous and arrogant to the nth degree.

As my friend in the Marines has said, "He isn't MY president."

Is there a reason he left out Ron Paul???? Phsycological ? The power of positive thinking ??
    • Kerry  •  26 days ago
Pass the jobs bill. The pipline is a whole different subject.

Why does everything obama try's to pass, even if the republicans approve of it, they will try and throw something else in the mix so it fails.

Pass what we can thats good for the country. The house controleld by republicans is the reason why congress has a approval rating in the single digits.

      Lets hear the shittalk!
