Obama Says 'Rape Is Rape'

Barack Obama was a barrel of laughs on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Wednesday night. Not really, though, because the president's sense of humor is just like your dad's. He's either totally cheesy or just really unexpectedly serious. Then again, it's hard to make jokes about rape.

The president's brief appearance covered the basics from the news cycle. It was playful, for the most part. (Obama actually thinks Leno is funny, after all.) The political story of the day was undeniably Republican congressional candidate Richard Mourdock's declaring that rape pregnancies were "a gift from God." Leno asked what Obama thought about the remarks, and the president did not mince his words. "Rape is rape. It is a crime," Obama said according to the White House pool reprot. "These various distinctions about rape don't make too much sense to me, don't make any sense to me." It's not a laughing matter.

The president did get in a couple of good jokes, though. Asked about Trump's big, huge, end-of-America announcement -- the one where Trump said he'd donate $5 million to charity if Obama released his college and passport records -- Obama made a funny about how his beef with the billionaire goes back to his years living in Kenya. "We had constant run-ins on the soccer field," said the president. "He wasn't very good and resented it. When we finally moved to America, I thought it would be over."
