    Obama sends Congress bill to help merge agencies

    WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is asking Congress to give him more power to consolidate governmental functions, authority he said he would first employ to merge six major economic agencies into one

    Obama sent Congress proposed legislation Thursday that would give presidents more freedom to combine agencies only if such mergers save money or reduce the size of government. Obama wants the kind of authority was last held by President Ronald Reagan.

    In a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, Obama said he wants to consolidate business and trade agencies into one department "with one website, one phone number, and one mission -- helping American businesses succeed."

    With the legislation, Obama is seeking to counter Republican criticism that he has presided over a government that has increased in size and cost.

        You dont need 6 people doing the same job but for different depts. Yes, its fewr jobs in total, but its wasteful spending. Theres folks sitting around with nothing to do for half the friggin day. Instead of 6 people sitting around for half the day, have 3 people work a full day. Tax money goes to pay their salaries while they sit under the air all day and cool out.

      Obama objective, his friends "Ruth Bader Ginsburg" said this " I would not look to the U.S. Constitution if i were drafting a constitution in the year of 2012. I might look at the constitution of South Africa" can we please get them a boat set to South Africa so they can finish thier conversation one way.       This is a power grab, pure and simple. It's an all out assault on the Constitutional seperation of powers. Congress had better look, listen and read very seriously to this request. He makes it sound great, BUT....in the end it's a consolidation of Administrative powers, reducing the Legislative branch of Congress further. With the 17th Amendment, we were forced to accept three branches of government from the Founding Fathers four. This will further diminish what is left of the original four branches to two, as we already lost the Senate with the 17th Amendment.

        You sould like big government spending libtard! I want the government reduced and I will be watching to see if the Republicans actually do it. I am skeptical because they hemmed and hawed when he first introduced the idea some months ago. I think they do not want to give up the perks - we'll see who is for real here...

      Make the legislation read (in part): If the following agencies are eliminated: The Dept of Education, The EPA, Dept of Health and Human Services and the US Mission to the UN you may have the power to merger agencies with House consent. This power is temporary in nature and will last 1 calander yr. The Dept of Ed, EPA and Health Depts will revert back to state level agancies and the US Mission to the UN will be dissolved in it's entirety.
