Washington, June 9 (ANI): President Barack Obama has denied the White House had engaged in politically motivated leaks of its drone program.
"The notion that my White House would purposely release classified national security information is offensive - it's wrong," Politico quoted Obama, as saying.
Obama also indicated for the first time that the wave of prosecutions of leakers reflected his commitment to shutting down leaks of national security secrets.
"Since I've been in office, my attitude has been zero tolerance for these kinds of leaks and speculation," the president said.
"We have mechanisms in place where if we can root out folks who have leaked they will suffer consequences. In some cases, it's criminal, these are criminal acts when they release information like this. And we will conduct thorough investigations, as we have in the past," he added. (ANI)
