Obama Super Bowl Interview Break: Savannah Guthrie To Follow Bill O’Reilly

White House no doubt doing the happy dance after NBC News announced this morning Savannah Guthrie will conduct the Super Bowl Pre-Kickoff POTUS Interview this coming Sunday. The exclusive interview will air live from the White House. Guthrie will tape additional back-and-forth for Today show to air the next morning. NBC Sports’ coverage of the Super Bowl begins at noon ET.

Choice of Guthrie – instead of, say Chuck Todd, Brian Williams, or Matt Lauer – is interesting, and a break for Obama. Last year Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly turned his pre-Super-Bowl interview with Obama into a Fox News Channel Hit Topics Countdown. “Do you think I’m being unfair to you?” O’Reilly asked, rhetorically, after ticking off the list. To which Obama responded, “Absolutely. Of course you are, Bill. We just went through an interview in which you asked about health care not working, IRS: were we wholly corrupt, Benghazi. These kind of things keep on surfacing, in part, because you and your TV station will promote them.”

Wondering how it’s going to go on Sunday? Here’s a look at a previous Guthrie interview with Obama, from September 2013 – and O’Reilly’s pre-Super Bowl chat with Obama in ’14:
