Obama: US, Europe united behind Ukraine government

AMSTERDAM (AP) — President Barack Obama says Europe and America are united in support of the Ukrainian government and its people.

Obama is speaking after meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Amsterdam. It's his first comments about Russia's Crimean incursion since arriving in Europe for a week of international travel.

Obama says the U.S. and Europe are united imposing a cost on Russia for its actions so far.

Obama says NATO allies are the closest partners the U.S. has on the world stage. He says Europe is the cornerstone of American engagement with the world.

Obama says he and the Dutch leader also discussed trade, climate change, Syria's chemical weapons and other issues.
