    Obama's 2012 Strategy

There are two ways a president can run for reelection. The first is to boast about your success in your first term, and promise to build on it in the next. That’s what Dwight Eisenhower did in 1956; it’s what Ronald Reagan did in 1984; it’s what Bill Clinton did in 1996. For the strategy to work, Americans have to be relatively satisfied with their lot, and relatively optimistic about the future.

For Barack Obama today, with unemployment over 8 percent and three-quarters of Americans convinced that the country is going in the wrong direction, that’s not an option. So he’s relying on strategy number two: telling Americans that their unhappiness is not his fault. It’s the fault of his political opponents, opponents whose victory would doom any hopes for better days to come.

Obama began laying out that argument last week in Kansas, and continued it Sunday on 60 Minutes. The story goes like this: Once upon a time, in the middle of the 20th century, the American economy was strong, and it benefited all Americans, up and down the class ladder. Then, at some point—perhaps in the 1970s or 1980s, perhaps during the George W. Bush years—things began to go wrong. “Long before the recession hit,” Obama declared in Kansas, “hard work stopped paying off for too many people. Fewer and fewer of the folks who contributed to the success of our economy actually benefited from that success.”

Then, the story continues, all hell broke loose: “For many years, credit cards and home equity loans papered over this harsh reality. But in 2008, the house of cards collapsed.” As president, Obama tried to remedy the situation, but was stymied by the very people who had created the disaster in the first place. As he told 60 Minutes, “I think the Republicans [in Congress] made a different calculation, which was, ‘You know what? We really screwed up the economy. Obama seems popular. Our best bet is to stand on the sidelines, because we think the economy’s gonna get worse, and at some point, just blame him.’” In other words, the same Republicans who destroyed the broad-based prosperity of the post-war years, and laid the foundations for the financial crisis, have refused to help fix either problem. And now they want the White House so they can ensure that the problems they created never, ever, get solved.

From Obama’s perspective, this narrative has its advantages. In the face of Republican claims that his policies have failed to revive the economy, Obama is turning the blame on the Republicans themselves. Instead of arguing that his policies have succeeded in keeping the recession from being worse—an argument that could easily sound defeatist—Obama is implicitly conceding that his economic recovery strategy has failed, but laying the responsibility at the feet of the party trying to unseat him. His narrative also lets him insist that the Republican nominee is not a fresh face with fresh ideas, but rather a reincarnation of the people who destroyed the economy in the first place.

The fuzziness comes when Obama tries to explain how exactly the Republicans created this mess. In Kansas, he took aim at “you’re on your own” economics, which, as he noted, has been a critique progressives have been leveling since Theodore Roosevelt’s day. But while that may be a plausible summary of the policies that have been hurting middle-class Americans for decades now, it doesn’t really capture the policies that contributed to the financial crisis. The financial crisis wasn’t primarily about rampant individualism. If it had been, the Wall Street bankers who gambled away billions would have, as individuals, paid the price. Instead, after profiting individually when the market went up, they forced the rest of the country to save them when the market went down. The financial crisis was an example of what happens when the richest Americans are allowed to practice “you’re on your own” economics when it suits them but demand that everyone else bail them out when it doesn’t.

Successful presidential candidates do more than simply tell a story. They tell a story that captures the conditions and mood of the country at a particular moment in time. Obama doesn’t need to fully embrace Occupy Wall Street, but he needs to understand why the movement has caught on: Because many Americans believe Wall Street plays a central role in the warping of our economic and political system. A generic attack on Republican individualism isn’t good enough. Most Americans still don’t know why Barack Obama believes the roof fell in on America in 2008, and why he’s still more capable of repairing the damage in a second term than his political adversaries. Unless he answers those questions better over the next 11 months, he won’t get the chance.

Who makes up the "Evil" 1% that the 99% are supposedly demonizing?
A research report of taxpayers is pretty eye opening, see attached:
      web.williams.edu/Economics/wp/BakijaColeHeimJobsIncomeGrowthTopEarners.pdf
      .
Executives, Managers, Supervisors (Non -Finance) 31%
      Medical 15.7%
      Financial Professionals, Including management. 13.9%
      Lawyers 8.4%
Computer, Math Engineering, Technical (Non financial) 4.6%
Not working or deceased 4.3 %
Skilled sales (except finance or real estate) 4.2%
Blue collar or miscellaneous service 3.8%
      Real estate 3.2%
      Business operations (nonfinance) 3.0%
      Entrepreneur not elsewhere classified 2.3%
      Professors and scientists 1.8%
      Arts, media, sports 1.6%
      Unknown 0.9%
      Government, teachers, social services 0.8%
      Farmers & ranchers 0.5%
      Pilots 0.2%
      .
FYI, they earn 22.8% of the income in this country but pay over 40% of the federal personal income taxes. Sounds pretty FAIR already. Ain't the truth a bummer.

      Radicals In The White House
      .
Anita Dunn, recently former White House Communications Director is on record as stating that Mao Tse Tung and Mother Theresa are her two favorite philosophers. If that is not alarming enough when you go down the list of Obama's various czars the story gets stranger and more frightening.

      .
There was Van Jones, former Green Jobs Czar, who claimed he became a Marxist while in prison. He was ousted after signing petitions claiming the Bush Administration carried out 9/11.

      .
There is Cass Sunstein the Regulator Czar who questioned the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and who's 2004 book states that he believes animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives.

      .
There is Obama's Science Czar John Holdren who co-authored a book called Ecoscience where he proposed population controls through putting sterilants in drinking water and forced abortions.

      .
Then there's Energy Czar, Carol Browner who was an official member of Socialist Internationals Commission For A Sustainable World Society until the summer of 2008, a group who's key position is that rich countries must shrink their economies to address Global Warming. (She no longer works at the white house but why was she there for 2 years if she is a member of an association that wants to shrink America’s economy?????)

      .
Mark Lloyd, an appointee to the FCC who praises the "democratic revolution and rise to power" of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. Who also has publicly asked media ceo’s and executives to step down so minorities can take their place.

      .
Perhaps Obama's 15 page vetting sheet did not uncover these items so we can give him the benefit of the doubt that these people concealed these things or that Obama was unaware of them. One would hope he does not share their ideology or their extreme views. As citizens we would hope and should demand that he remove them from his administration.

Obama Quotes - Great Moments In Partisanship And Race Baiting.

"We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back." Obama ( I guess this is his idea of being post racial and post partisan?)

      .
""I won. So I think on that one, I trump you." Obama to Republicans at a meeting with Dems and Republicans on ironing out ideogical differences. (Post Partisan?)

      .
“Are there people out there who don't like me because of race? I'm sure there are. That's not the overriding issue here. I think there are people who are anti-government.” Obama, Playing the Race card For the umpteenth time.

      .
"they will tell you I look funny, i don't look like the guys on the money" Obama. If you are white you know exactly what he was saying and it was racist.

      .

Obama calls out on national tv a white cop who arrested his buddy for disorderly conduct, as acting stupidly. Then he bullies him publicly into attending a beer conference w the professor, himself & joe biden (for balance?) for a full fledged media photo op to make obama look good & the guy basically can't refuse to attend without looking like a racist. Shameful behavior for the occupant of the white house.

      .

"And so part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared." Obama at a boston fundraiser recently. I am actually not sure if he is bad mouthing republicans for not supporting him or if he is attacking his own Democrats for not supporting him or his candidates.

      .

President Obama told Univision recently,“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're going to punish our enemies and we're going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,' if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's going to be harder."

      .

Are You Better Off Since Obama Became President…...and the Democrats took over Senate, House, and White House?
      .
President Barack Obama said in February 2009 that his presidency would be “one-term proposition” if the economy did not recover in three years, giving him less than six months from today.
      .
“Look, I'm at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I've got four years,” Obama told The Today Show’s Matt Lauer on February 1, 2009.
      .
“A year from now I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress," said Obama. "But there's still going to be some pain out there. If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition.”

      .
--The Stimulus failed and the money is all gone.
--Obamacare is looming with massive cost increases and corporations are cutting back to be able to pay for it which means they have stopped investing & hiring.

--Obamas appointees are regulation happy which means that corporations are looking at potential costs, and are cutting back expenditures and not hiring or investing.

--Obama and the Democrats have spent over 4 trillion dollars to date and their promise of unemployment below 8% was dead wrong.

--The US credit rating was reduced because Obama ran 4 trillion in deficits and the Democrats have not passed a budget since October 2009.

--Obama is demonizing the banks for not freeing up lending, when Dodd Frank bank regulation has taxed them with tens of billions of cost, and government regulators have harassed them over foreclosures causing them to delay releasing foreclosed homes on the market and thus incur higher costs.

WHO'S FAULT WAS THE BANKING CRISIS AND THE HOUSING BUBBLE BURST?
      .
      1) Banking Crisis & Glass Steagle - The smoking gun.
      .
After the 1929 Stock Market Crash, in the midst of a nationwide commercial bank failure and the Great Depression, in 1933 two Congressmen put their names on what's known today as the Glass-Steagall Act. The act separated investment and commercial banking activities. At the time, "improper banking activity", or what was considered overzealous commercial bank involvement in stock market investments, was viewed as the main culprit of the financial crash. According to that reasoning, commercial banks took on too much risk with depositors' money.

      .
Under this act, only 10% of a commercial banks' total income could come from securities. By creating such a barrier, the GSA was aiming to prevent the banking systems use of deposits in the case of a failed underwriting job.

      .
In November of 1999 Congress repealed the GSA by establishing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, that then President Bill Clinton signed. The act eliminated the GSA restrictions against affiliations between commercial and investment banks. In addition it allowed banking institutions to provide a broader range of services, including underwriting and other dealing activities.

      .
In the 8 years that ensued banks became massively overleveraged and the financial sector nearly collapsed in late 2008. To correct the error of a former Democrat President, Obama and his administration must re-implement the barrier that was so dangerously done away with in 1999. (It is not in the Dodd Frank Reform Bill)

      .
      2) Mortgage Crisis History
      .
The American Dream of home ownership ran into the well intentioned but misguided fanaticism of socialist support t through governmental policies which twisted the dream to intend to provide it for all at unsustainable low cost. This was done despite the fact that not everyone is responsible enough to own and maintain a home. The banking system, as a long germ gatekeeper of home ownership, figured that out long ago. Not satisfied with the workings of the free market Congress created entities such as Fannie Mae &Freddie Mac to increase the percent of home ownership and even some States followed suit with smaller entities of a similar purpose.

      .
After 5 decades these socialist economic policies distorted the housing market in this country and brought about a collapse. This well meaning effort to aid anyone who wanted to buy a home ended up in an actual 100% loan approval policy that spelled our doom by artificially pumped money into the housing market for decades.

      .
Note that Congress privatized the program in 69 and encouraged the free market to support this two headed beast, along with State privatized entities of a similar purpose. Through privatization of Fannie & Freddie, Carters Community Reinvestment Act and Clinton’s repeal of Glass Steagall in 1999, they entangled the private market (AIG, Merryl Lynch, Banks etc.) in the mess as well. In the end, those who were encouraged to aid and abet that program are now suffering the consequences of the housing bust.

      .
Socialism is the root of all evil in the current mortgage / credit crisis. We need to hold accountable those who sold the socialist economic policies responsible and vote them out of office. There is no free lunch and shame on any of us who knowingly voted for the fools who promised things that were too good to be true.

      .
      3) Go to youtube and look up the 2004 Fannie Mae hearings. See who was trying to prevent catastrophe and who was shooting for bonuses, 100% loan approvals, and claiming that Fannie / Freddie were solvent.

      .
      .
UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT (& WHO) CAUSED SOMETHING, YOU CAN’T FIX IT.

Obama apparently has no clue that he has in fact worsened our economy with his policies and appointees. His ignorance and inexperience are breathtakingly frightening.
