WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is dining out with his family before taking in a Marine Corps parade.

Obama, wife Michelle and 13-year-old daughter Sasha are dining at the BLT Steak restaurant near the White House.

Afterward, the Obamas planned to head across town for the parade, a 57-year-old tradition.

The event features the United States Marine Band, which is also known as the "The President's Own," in more than an hour of music and marching. The band's director, Col. Michael J. Colburn, is retiring after 27 years with the organization.

The parade dates to 1957 and is held every Friday night during the summer at the Marine Barracks in Washington.

Obama previously attended the Marine Corps parade in 2009.
