Obamney care, Pitt split, frack the vote: Vote for the dumbest political statement this week

After last Thursday’s Supreme Court decision to uphold President Barack Obama’s health care law, Republicans from all over the country came out swinging.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a potential running mate for Mitt Romney, went on the offensive during a Republican National Committee press call on June 29. Jindal called for a full repeal of the law, but with a quick slip of the tongue, he accidentally aligned Romney’s startlingly similar Massachusetts health care mandate with Obama’s.
"There's only one candidate -- Gov. Romney -- who's committed that he will repeal the Obamney -- the Obamacare tax increase,” Jindal said. “He will repeal Obamacare as soon as he's elected."
Whoops! See what he did there? It’s bad because Romney insists that the two health care initiatives are different when they are essentially the same. And even a staunch Republican like Jindal can’t seem to keep them straight.
Could it be that the Romney camp’s VP shortlist just got a little shorter?

Brad Pitt might be an Obama-loving leftie, but his mom sure isn’t. In a letter-to-the-editor published Tuesday for the Springfield News-Leader, Jane Pitt, resident of Springfield, Mo., wrote that even though GOP candidate Mitt Romney is a Mormon, Christians should vote for him anyway. If they don’t, she wrote, they must be in favor of Obama’s radical politics:
“Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.”
Not only is the superstar’s mom seemingly speaking for all Christians, but she also publicly opposes her son’s support for the incumbent president and for legalizing gay marriage.
It seems like the apple did fall pretty far from the political tree in the Pitt household.

It could happen to anyone. It’s late and you’re stuck at work, exhausted. All you want to do is head home and kick back with a cold one, but instead, you accidentally vote to legalize fracking in North Carolina. Huh?
Ok, maybe this scenario can’t happen to anyone—but it did to N.C. Democratic state Rep. Becky Carney.
Carney attempted to vote Monday against a state Senate measure that would override Gov. Bev Perdue’s veto on a bill to make the natural gas extraction process legal in the state.
But during the late-night vote, Carney accidentally pressed the wrong button to vote in favor of overriding the veto, making fraking legal in the state. Soon after she pressed the button, she said, “Oh my gosh. I pushed green.”
“I feel rotten, and I feel tired,” Carney told local reporters after the vote. “And I feel that mistakes are made constantly when people are tired.”
Only in “The Matrix” movies has choosing the right color mattered so much. It’s also why getting the doctor-recommended eight hours of sleep can be crucial – especially when faced with important legislative decisions.
