UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Authorities in a Maryland suburb of Washington say an off-duty city police officer has been killed in what may have been a "domestic-related homicide" and that police are on the scene of an apparent barricade situation involving the suspect.
Prince George's County police Cpl. Maria McKinney said officers responded to a call about the shooting at 8:13 p.m. Monday in Upper Marlboro. She said "the victim was identified as an adult male who was shot and killed by a family member."
She said the victim, whose name has not been released, was a member of the District of Columbia police department.
McKinney said early Tuesday that the suspect is believed to still be inside the residence, and that a conflict management team was on the scene. Police were trying to determine if anyone else was inside.
