    Office Depot to sell Nook devices

    BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Office Depot said Thursday that it will start to sell Barnes & Noble Inc.'s Nook devices, offering yet another retail location where consumers can buy the gadgets.

    The office supply company said that it will offer the new 8 gigabyte version of the Nook Tablet for $199.99 and the 16 gigabyte version for $249.99. The Nook Simple Touch e-reader will be sold for $99.

    Other retailers that sell Nook devices include Target Corp., Staples Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

    Nook devices will be available at Office Depot stores and on its web site.

    Office Depot Inc.'s announcement comes two days after Barnes & Noble said it would sell the 8GB tablet. The cheaper device is meant to take on tablet competition from the likes of Amazon.com, whose Kindle Fire has 8GB and sells for $199.

    Office Depot, which is based in Boca Raton, Fla., currently has 1,656 stores.

    Its stock added 6 cents, or 2 percent, to $3.06 in midday trading, while shares of Barnes & Noble climbed 41 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $12.79.
