Office Now assistant reportedly coming to iOS, Android and Windows

Microsoft’s Cortana app for iOS, Android and Windows might not be the only new application the company will offer smartphone users, as a Google Now-like app is apparently in the works. Aptly named Office Now, the app has already been leaked and appears to be different from Cortana.

It’s not entirely clear why Microsoft would have two different assistant-like apps, but Neowin has some convincing details on the yet-to-be-announced Office Now.

According to the publication the Office Now app is currently in private beta testing. The app will let users organize their days and find “information that is relevant to the objective you are trying to accomplish quickly.”

The app will apparently present various cards to help you with a variety of daily tasks, much as Google Now does. The publication notes several such cards, including at-a-glance summary, commute card, highlights card, missed call card, in-depth people insights, natural language event creation, email to yourself card and emails directly to you card.

Office Now appears to offer some functionality that’s similar to what Cortana can already do, but the app offers the features automatically by being contextually aware of your needs. With Cortana, you have to ask or wait for content, but Office Now appears to be more like Microsoft’s direct response to Google Now.
