Office Star Ed Helms To Star In Vacation Reboot

For fans of the "Vacation" movie franchise, it looks like there's a new member of the Griswold family.

According to Variety, Ed Helms from "The Office" is in negotiations to star in New Line's "Vacation" reboot as Rusty Griswold, the family son first played by Anthony Michael Hall in the original "National Lampoon's Vacation" film, starring Chevy Chase.

With reboots aplenty invading the box office, fans - and even actors - are often wary of these projects.

When Helms' name surfaced among the list of considered actors for the movie back in February, the 38-year-old comedian and actor wasn't exactly eager to jump on board.

"I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. I'm not a big fan conceptually of remakes but anything's possible," Ed said to Moviefone.

He also added, "Anything done well is going to be good."

Not quite a remake, the film will feature Rusty, who is now a dad himself, as he encounters a whole new set of mishaps with his family.

Despite his initial doubts, Ed admits that he remains a huge fan of the original series.

"The whole reason I do what I do is because of 'Animal House,' and 'Caddyshack,' and 'Vacation' and 'Ghostbusters' and 'Fletch' and 'Trading Places," Ed said to Moviefone.
