Ohio gas prices dip to start work week

Ohio gas prices lower to start work week; state prices well above national average

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Prices at the pump are down in Ohio since last week, but the state's prices are still way above the national average.

The cost for a gallon of regular gas in Ohio was averaging $3.81 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That's 11 cents lower than a week ago.

Monday's Ohio price is about 7 cents higher than a month ago, but it's 12 cents lower than last year at this time.

The national average Tuesday was $3.65 per gallon. That's 2 cents lower than a week ago, and a penny lower than a month ago.

Analysts say the higher prices are due to stronger than expected demand and other factors.
