Olympiakos ends season with 1-0 win over Apollon

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Javier Saviola's close-range goal in the 88th minute helped already-crowned champion Olympiakos finish the season on a high note by beating Apollon 1-0 in the last round of the Greek league Sunday.

Olympiakos won a record 41st championship, finishing 17 points ahaead of PAOK, which lost 3-2 at Levadiakos. Apollon was relegated, finishing 17th to join last-place Aris, which drew 0-0 with Giannena, in the second division next season. Xanthi beat Panathinaikos 3-1 to finish 16th and will enter a playoff with the third-place team in the second division for a spot in the top flight next season.

Elsewhere, Veria beat Asteras 1-0, Platanias drew 0-0 at Panionios, Ergotelis defeated Kalloni 3-0, Panetolikos beat OFI 1-0 and Atromitos won 3-1 at Panthrakikos.
