Omeruo expects title defence

Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo is confident his team can successfully defend their Africa Cup of Nations crown in Morocco next year. The Super Eagles won the 2013 edition in South Africa after seeing off Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final, and now find themselves in Group A for the 2015 showpiece, along with Bafana Bafana, Sudan and a yet to be determined fourth participant. Omeruo, though, is not at all concerned by who they might face, with the defender supremely confident of a successful title defence. "We can defend the trophy. I believe that our coaching crew is strong enough and also they will invite good and quality players for the qualifiers." Nigeria will learn their fourth group opponent in the coming days, with either Namibia, Congo, Libya or Rwanda to take the final position following the return leg of second-round qualifying fixtures.
