One 2014’s best Android phones is getting an unexpectedly speedy Lollipop update

After Motorola confirmed that it plans to issue fast Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to some of its Android handsets and just after Samsung teased a Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 4, one other company is apparently interested in bringing Android 5.0 to its 2014 flagship surprisingly quickly after Google releases it.

According to German publication Computerbase, LG has confirmed that the G3 Lollipop update is arriving this quarter, with last year’s G2 supposed to get it at some point in the future.

Specific details have not been revealed, but considering that Android 5.0 Lollipop is arriving as soon as November 3rd, at least for the new Nexus devices launching in early November, LG might be getting ready for a speedy Lollipop update for its high-end handset — after all, some of the older Nexus devices aren’t even expected to get Android 5.0 in early November, with cellular versions of the Nexus 7, the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 4 said to be upgraded by the end of next month.

Other Android handset makers including HTC and Sony have also confirmed Lollipop update plans for some of their smartphones.

An image teasing the Lollipop update for the G3 follows below — “Android Lollipop. Soon on your smartphone,” the message in the top right corner of the image reads.
