Onyx Pharma names its CEO as chairman

Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Monday that Dr. N. Anthony Coles, its current president and CEO, will also be its chairman.

Paul Goddard, the board's lead independent director, will remain in that position.

Coles joined the company in 2008 as president and CEO. He was also appointed a board member then.

Shares of Onyx, which is based in South San Francisco, Calif., fell 79 cents, or 1 percent, to $78.01 in afternoon trading.
