They say if you shop at Waitrose you're posh - and if you had any doubts about your social class a new Facebook page will convince you of your status.

'Overheard at Waitrose' describes itself as a 'page for publishing words often heard permeating the aisles of Britain's poshest supermarket'.

The mischevious page of hilarious soundbites overheard between the aisles of foccacia, goose egg and overpriced extra virgin oil has become an internet sensation with more than 119,000 likes since it was set up on April 14.

There are so far only a handful of posts that poke fun at the upmarket frequenters of Waitrose but each has hundreds - if not thousands of likes.

The most popular post, which is nearing 10,000 likes, reads: 'Daddy does lego have a silent 'T', like Merlot?'

Although the posts cannot be verified, even an occasional shopper of Waitrose will believe the snippets of eavesdropped conversations to be authentic.
