Pair jailed for violent Nottingham city centre bus stop robbery attempts
Two men have been jailed for two violent attempted robberies at Nottingham city centre bus stops.
In one attack, an 18-year-old was dragged to the floor, punched, kicked and stamped on in George Street.
Casey Mossman, 20, had tried to grab the victim's bag at about 22:30 BST on 15 September 2023, before pulling him to the floor.
His accomplice Connor McKenna, 20, then punched him in the face, before the pair carried out an assault.
The victim had to go to hospital with head and face injuries.
Previously, Mossman and McKenna also tried to rob a 24-year-old man who was waiting with a friend at a temporary bus stop in Castle Boulevard at about 21:00 on 31 August.
Mossman told him to empty his pockets. As the bus arrived there was a struggle and Mossman punched him in the face.
The victim and his friend managed to board the bus to escape.
Det Con Richard Evans, of Nottinghamshire Police, said the attacks were both "unprovoked" and "random".
He added: "I'm glad Mossman and McKenna have now been held to account for their crimes which caused considerable fear and distress to their victims.
"With the level of violence inflicted, it's fortunate they didn't sustain more serious injuries."
Mossman, of Shakespeare Street, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted robbery.
McKenna, of Ribblesdale Court, Chilwell, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted robbery and a further charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Mossman was jailed for three-and-a-half years and McKenna for three years at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.
