Panathinaikos beats last-place Aris 4-1

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Markus Berg scored a hat trick to lead Panathinaikos to a 4-1 win over last-place Aris in the Greek league on Saturday.

The Swedish forward opened the scoring in the 26th minute and added two more goals in the second half. Michalis Manias temporarily equalized for Aris in the 40th before Viktor Klonaridis restored Panathinaikos' lead in first-half injury time.

Aris' Andreas Tatos missed a penalty kick in the 35th.

The win kept Panathinaikos in fourth place, two points behind joint second-place Atromitos and PAOK, both of which play at home on Sunday. Atromitos hosts Panionios and PAOK plays front-runner Olympiakos. The visitors can clinch their 41st league title with six rounds to spare with a win.

Also, Asteras won 1-0 at Xanthi and Giannena drew 1-1 at OFI.
