Parenthood Creator Jason Katims Is Headed to Hulu With a Straight-to-Series Deal for The Way

Jason Katims is trying his hand at creating streaming TV. The Parenthood creator has earned a straight-to-series order for a new drama that's set to air on Hulu, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new project—which is titled The Way and was developed by Katims along with Parenthood writer/producer Jessica Goldberg—tells the story of a family at the center of a controversial faith-based movement. Season 1 will consist of 10 hour-long episodes, and each one will "take an in-depth look at what it means to choose between the life we live and the life we want." The series will begin filming this summer, and casting is currently underway.

Katims, who also executive-produced Friday Night Lights and recently wrapped Parenthood after six beloved seasons, currently runs the NBC comedy About a Boy. About a Boy has yet to be renewed for Season 3 (and, let's face it, is probably canceled).
