Pierson Boulevard is reopened in Desert Hot Springs after a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of Pierson Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue.

Desert Hot Springs Police Department officers responded to the area of Pierson Boulevard and Golden Eagle Way for a traffic collision involving two vehicles on Saturday morning around 9:53 a.m.

Officers said a 33-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs was traveling westbound on Pierson Boulevard on Saturday morning in a silver Toyota Camry, approaching the four-way intersection at Golden Eagle Way, where a white-colored Honda Odyssey with a 40-year-old driver and 5-year-old passenger was stopped at the traffic light on westbound Pierson Boulevard and Golden Eagle Way.

Officers believe the driver of the Camry suffered a medical emergency before colliding into the back of the Odessey.

The driver of the Camry was found unresponsive on scene and transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger and driver of the Odessey did not require medical attention.

Part of Pierson Boulevard was temporarily closed on Saturday due to the collision.
