New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer was scheduled to have season-ending surgery on Monday to repair a broken leg, multiple media outlets reported.
Vollmer was injured during the Patriots' 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Vollmer's legs got caught in an awkward position during a Stevan Ridley running play. The Patriots' medical staff put his leg in an air cast and carted him off the field.
Marcus Cannon replaced Vollmer at right tackle, and is expected to occupy that spot the rest of the season.
Vollmer had started all eight games this season, and he started all 15 games in which he played in 2012.
