    Paul McCartney Fans: Meet Your Nirvana

    Get ready Paul McCartney fans: HP and McCartney's company have launched a cloud-based music sharing site for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in his digital library.

    "The digital library can store the estimated million (plus) items from McCartney’s expansive personal collection, which spans more than five decades," says Scott Anderson, vice president of Customer Communications at HP. "The site is a vehicle for Paul McCartney fans to view new photographs, videos, news of what’s happening, accounts of what happened, and backstage moments."

    HP announced news of the site on Thursday, although the beta site has been up for a few weeks.

    The project was one year in the making. McCartney's company, MPL Communications, Ltd. which manages all of his music and has acquired numerous other labels over the years, teamed-up with HP to present the new site.

    Follow the link to the homepage and you'll be greeted with a large photo of McCartney performing and 13 tabs up at the top. There's a lot of cool features on this site, but first things first -- the music. Click on the Jukebox tab, which is placed all the way on the right side. It'll open a new window when you click on it. Here you can find all of McCartney's post-Beatles albums, listen to snippets of songs before you decide to buy an album and also listen to others' playlists. You'll also be able to see all the albums a song was recorded on, the first time and location a song was played in concert, the number of times a song was played in concert, the date and location of every concert where each song was played and the set list for each of the concerts -- if you're curious.

    Click on the "music" tab to view album covers, buy songs and read about past concerts. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "The Rude Studio" to create your own mix using McCartney songs. Post the mix on the site for other members to listen to and comment on.

    Premium members of the site can also live-stream music on Paul McCartney Radio and build and share playlists with a premium membership. HP said they are not aware of any advertising the music streaming service will have between songs (like Pandora). We reached out to HP to ask how much a premium membership costs or if it's free and are waiting for a response.

    But the site offers a lot more than music. You can also take a gander at his collection of artwork, books, his blog and check out a timeline of McCartney's personal photos.

      It's amusing to read the comments here criticizing McCartney for not being Lennon, as if somehow one was more relevant than the other. Like they have to choose. I suspect it comes from Lennon fans thinking themselves the hipper of the 2. Paul was always considerd the good boy... image conscience and infinitely more savvy business wise. This didn't make him any less talented than John. They were different and they both brought their strengths to the table. As a result, the Beatles wrote some of the best, most memorable music of our times.

      It's a shame that only a decade worth of his solo career is worth listening to. He is so intent on staying in music he has relentlessly borrowed from himself and repeatedly regurgitated his now boorish rhymes to the enth degree. I love ya Paul, but take a vacation for cryin' out loud!

      John Lennon is more interesting than McCartney, and Lennon wrote better songs.

        Most of Mcartney songs after the Beatles would not have played much on the radio except for his Beatles fame.Most if not all of his albums are easily forgetable.

      No I will NOT!!!!! I have heard every Beatle song at least 10,000 times now. I will be expanding my music knowledge by listening to Hank Williams and other greats I had ignored while I was obsessed with the Bealtes. I am now FREE from my obsession and I found out there is a lot of other really cool music form me to listen to! Besides, McCartney is obscenly rich, he does not need anymore of my money - starting with my allowance I had saved up every week when I was a kid to buy his music - and there are UNDISCOVERED talents out there who deserve my support more than McCartney does = people WHO NEED THE HELP!

        I respect wanting to expand to other greats, but trust me, you have not wasted one moment of your life in a Beatles obsession. I totally get being burnt out on Paul and wanting to support new talent, but you don't have to shed the Beatles like it was some sort of life-sucking meth addiction.

        Gen X, If you have been hindered by the Beatles as far as exploring other kinds of music, then you never got them in the first place. They were all about exploring and experimenting and were big fans of many different artists from their past to the present. It is a strange comment you make. I'm sure this isn't about money, but being cutting edge and as the face and delivery of music changes, the Beatles catalog will continue to be made available. So much music is hard to find and less and less can be found at stores. Think about it.
