Paul Rudd Proves Size Doesn’t Matter in ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer

Marvel has released the full-sized, full-length trailer for “Ant-Man,” starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang — a master thief who can harness the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength.

Guided by his mentor Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world, all while protecting the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats — including Corey Stoll’s villainous Darren Cross (aka Yellowjacket).

The new footage gives fans their first close-up look at Rudd’s titular hero as he utilizes his powers to break into a secure lab, dispatch security guards and take on Yellowjacket, culminating in the most unlikely train fight ever seen on screen.

Judging by the trailer, “Ant-Man” shares plenty of tonal similarities with last year’s Marvel blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy,” with Rudd’s diminutive hero displaying the same penchant for one-liners as Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill.

The film also stars Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Tip “Ti” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris and Jordi Mollà. Peyton Reed directs from a screenplay by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd, based on a story by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. Kevin Feige produces with Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Edgar Wright and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

“Ant-Man” hits theaters on July 17.
