Paula Deen cookbooks dropped by publisher
Paula Deen cookbooks, including Amazon No. 1 best-seller, canceled by publisher
Paula Deen's publisher has canceled a multibook deal with her, including an upcoming cookbook that's the No. 1 seller on Amazon.com.
Ballantine Books announced Friday it had canceled publication of "Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up." The book was scheduled for October.
Deen's agent, Janis Donnaud, tells The Associated Press four other planned books under contract also are canceled.
Deen has lost many of her business relationships following revelations she used a racial slur in the past. Sears Holdings Corp and J.C. Penney Co. say they're cutting ties with Deen, following similar announcements from Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Target Corp. and Home Depot.
Last week, the Food Network said it wouldn't renew her contract.
Deen specializes in Southern comfort food. She says she's not a racist.
