Pebble Appstore Comes to Android Devices, Adds eBay and Evernote Apps

If you love the many watchfaces and apps you can get for the Pebble smartwatch but hate having to search high and low for them, there's good news for you. Pebble's finally launched its official appstore so you can have a one-stop-shop for all the programs you want to install. Integrating seamlessly into the existing Pebble app, the appstore was added to the iOS app in February and is now open to Android users.

Users who already have the Pebble app installed will have to update it to get access to the store, and the app will work on both the original Pebble watch and the new Pebble Steel. In addition to launching the appstore for Android, Pebble also announced three new partner apps for the smartwatch today: eBay, Evernote and Time Warner Cable. With eBay, Pebble users can access eBay Feeds and view product images, price and other information directly from their watchface. You can also add items to your Watch List, but you'll have to take out your smartphone to make any purchases.

Evernote for Pebble displays your checklists, reminders and notebooks on your wrist and lets you check off items on lists without having to bring out your phone. The Time Warner Cable app gives Intelligent Home subscribers the ability to adjust their home's thermostats, lights and energy use settings from their watch.

These apps join the likes of Yelp, ESPN, Foursquare, Pandora and Mercedes in offering versions of their software for the Pebble smartwatch, and the appstore already has more than 1,000 titles. We expect more apps coming soon, given the 6,000 developers who have registered with Pebble, and this appstore is a welcome tool for finding great companions for your smartwatch.
