Peerio for Mac review

Peerio for Mac protects you and your data when you're chatting with friends, communicating with colleagues, and sharing files. It provides thorough encryption, and you can store files in it as well, so you don't have to worry about someone accessing them.

Pros

Intuitive functionality: Peerio features a clear and intuitive interface, with tabs across the tops that let you navigate from one area to another. The main options here are Messages, where you can begin a new conversation or continue an old one, and Files, where you can add files to the app or access any stored there already. And when you're composing a message, you can attach a file directly, whether it's already stored in the app or not.

Security layers: When you set up this app, you have to select a Passphrase of significant length to protect your personal information. You can also choose a PIN to use when logging in again on the same device, although you'll still need your Passphrase to access your account from another device.

Cons

Not universal: You can only use this app to communicate with other users. Of course, you can invite any of your contacts to join, but unless a decent number of them are willing to do so, it won't be of much use to you.

Long passkeys: A long Passphrase certainly provides an extra layer of security, but even the PIN you select has to be at least eight characters long, which can make it quite difficult to remember yourself, without writing it down. And if you forget your Passphrase, there's no way to recover it or any of the data stored in the app.

Bottom Line

Peerio for Mac is a well-designed tool to help you communicate securely with other users. Its interface is clear and enjoyable to use, and its impressive security measures can give you peace of mind that your information and correspondence are secure.
