    Pelosi challenged: Should you, Reid and Obama take ownership of the economy? [VIDEO]

    House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has attributed the nation’s sluggish economy to the “failed” policies of President George W. Bush. The Daily Caller asked Pelosi whether or not she, President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid should take “ownership” of the current state of the economy.

    “President Obama was a job creator by, on day one. I’ve probably said this to you before but just in case I think it bears repeating, a job creator from day one. In his inaugural address, he called for swift, bold action now; and one week and one day after his speech, the House of Representatives passed the economic Recovery Act, which even the CBO says has saved or created over 3 million jobs,” Pelosi responded Thursday at the Capitol.

    “We are in a very, very deep hole and that’s what we have to come out of. It’s not cyclical. It’s systemic. It’s structural, it’s very big and that’s why it was really important for us to have more job creation but as you know, once we didn’t have the 60th vote in the Senate, that was hard to do, even with the Democratic majority in the House and now of course, with the Republican majority in the House, [there's] no job agenda.”

    Pelosi places blame for the country’s high unemployment rate on the Republican-controlled House, which convened in January 2011.

    “Up until, I think, his last day in office, President Reagan was blaming his economic woes on President Jimmy Carter, who hadn’t been president for 8 years already. It’s not about — again, this president has been so professional, and by that I mean he understands the role that he has to play and the responsibility that he has,” she said.

    “So, with the given that he [Obama] got he has I think tried very hard to take us down the right path. … Blame it on the do-nothing Congress because they have obstructed so much in addition to the policies that that he inherited.”

    The White House originally projected that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed into law by President Obama in 2009, would prevent unemployment from rising above 8 percent. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate stands at 8.6 percent.

        Because EVERYTHING Obama got passed, has helped, and everything blocked, has PRESERVED Bush policies that got us here, and there were OVER 430 of them preserved by the GOP as if they were GOOD ideas held over.
        Obama will take ownership of HIS policies, but, the GOP should not and cannot make him responsible for what THEY put in place and KEPT in place via filibustering Obama to death.
        IF, you block the president on MOST of his agenda, YOU own the mess you seem to value in hopes of blaming him for the steaming pile of stupidity he was handed.
        Be proud GOP and OWN your sabotage work, and stop trying to give credit away to Obama.

      Lol, how much money did her husbands company get from the "recovery act"? Her stock value has tripled in 3 years. Reid bought his 90th election through the unions. Obama had a super majority congress and all he did was ram his unread health care bill down our throats. Thats why the republican regained control of the house.

        Just in case you failed to realize it, "UNIONS" are groups of Americans that work for a living, unlike corporations which are businesses and NOT people. All the people in any business get free speech identical to all the rest of us BEFORE that of Corps with funding thousands of times beyond any other Americans, giving them MORE speech than the nation.
        Also, look at the amounts of money unions have, (a fraction of a weeks pay, from a worker, which is a fraction of the income of the corps), while Corps have endless funding with no limits. (unions can only donate money designated by employees for such, NOT from general funds)
        Now, do you really want to compare profits made by politicians, such as Cheney, Rummey, Bush, cronies like owners of oil companies and power companies, Enron, Haliburton, Xi, and the list goes on, vs people that have stock increases in medical care? REALLY?

      Wait... so while Bush was President (even with a Democrat held Congress) it was Bush's fault... THEN, while Obama was President (also with a Democrat held Congress) it was STILL Bush's fault... now with Obama as President (and Republicans holding the House) it's the House's fault.

      Is Pelosi a liar or a complete idiot? The day Obama took office there were over 142 million Americans employed. NOW, there are just over 140 million employed. That's nearly 2 million LESS jobs than the day Obama took office. Also, Reagan CREATED 25 MILLION jobs in his 8 years.
