Pelosi: High unemployment due to ‘failed’ economic policies of Bush [VIDEO]

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said former President George W. Bush’s “failed” policies are responsible for the current state of America’s economy. The unemployment rate is currently 8.5 percent.

“So if you don’t think that this is a different time, take a ride outside of Washington, D.C. See what the public mood is. See what the need is for us to — to create these jobs, not only to do what they say in the legislation but what it engenders in terms of confidence in people, hiring by businesses and injecting demand into the economy,” said Pelosi at the Capitol on Friday.

    Watch:

“I simply will not have us engage in a this, that, last August, 10 years ago. This is about here and now, and the highly unusual circumstance that we are in because the Republican failed policies, economic policies, of President George Bush took us to a financial meltdown, took us into near-depression, took us into deep deficits that we still have to deal with. Are they just too tired to come to work? I hope not.”

      • Newair 4 mths ago
a health care bill that even she acknoledeged that she had not read, and encouraged tothers to sign off on without reading it either. Thats just sad. And these are the p[eople we elect to represent us. Do people who vote for bills without even reading or truely understanding them represent you?
      • Claude 4 mths ago
You idiots really truly have no idea of the Destruction that the republicans wrecked onto the health care bill..FYI..there were TWO health care bills(a senate and a house bill) these were supposed to be debated and voted upon, and the Best of both were supposed to become our health care bill..(the meaning of those famous words from Pelosi)but the repubs did everything they could (and successfully did)to destroy the WHOLE process..the bottom line is that the Dems passed the Shreds of what was left over of the health care bill..but then the repubs added silly amendments that the republicans hoped the dems would try to remove ..so that it could go back for a full vote..where there were waiting to destroy the shreds of the remaining health care bill...bottom line we got what we got for our health care bill and OUR economy from the Stupidly of the Republicans

Clod .. uh Claude: So what party was in charge of the Senate at that time ... and how many Dumocrats passed the health care bill with out reading it ... duh.

Would someone tell this #$%$ to keep her mouth closed because every time she opens it nothing but crap comes out of it. This #$%$ is so stupid that she doesn't deserve to be in Washington for any job. To be so stupid to say George Bush is responsible for the current unemployment problems is the stupidest thing anyone could say as it very clear what the failer is. The great savior (NOT) #$%$ and his two lead idiots Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have cased this major problem in our country and they continue to nothing to correct it.
    • Da'BullDog!  •  4 mths ago
Miss PeBlowsi! If you wanna point fingers you can look at it like this. From the Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls)_From Dec to Dec. The National Unemployment rate was as follows. Dec. 2001 5.7, 2002 6.0 ,2003 5.7 , 2004 5.4 ,2005 4.9, oct 2006 4.4 . 2007 5.0, 2008 7.3, 2009 9.9, 2010 9.4, 2011 8.5 So, if you look the rate was 4.4 in 2006 before the Dems took control of Congress and started the capitalist war against business which took a lot jobs away from Americans and sent them to foreign countries. Mostly China. So, to actually run their rhetoric that Bush was the only one to blame is pure #$%$ Bush did'nt enact the big mortage giveaways to people who could'nt afford them. Primarily Dodd and Frank's pet project. Along with Reid and of course PeBlowsi. Not to mention all the scandals. So, if anything the truth is it was a joint venture.

When Obama became President in 2009 over 1.7 million lost their job in the frst 6 months. Only Republicans who are blind on both eyes can blame Obama for this.

Did anybody remind Ms NancyP that she was Speaker of the House from '06-'10. The house establishes the budgets for programs. Somehow she sees herself as inoculated?
      • Nigel 4 mths ago
No, because she wasn't... she became speaker in January of 2007 and her term ended in January of 2011, when the new GOP House was sworn in after the 2010 November elections.
      • mr.real 4 mths ago
Lh... Absolutely right....she was speaker of the house from 06-10... What a bag of garbage these sick people like pelosi and reid are.. And then let us not fortget the biggest loud mouth , cry baby... Radical obama.. He is the one who will take the blame,,,, like a man.. Just like truman said... Yep... Dont hold your breath!!

Pelosi is stupid and an embarassment . the meltdown started long long ago with policies on lending implemented when carter was in office to lower lending standards so every one could get a loan even those that did not qualify and would not be able to repay them . all done for only one reason , to get votes for democrates. house and senate democrat controlled for over 2 years when bush in office. get real and do some homework before you open your dirtbag mouth . you are ugly inside and out.

Mexico is repopulating the united states and sucking up taxpayer funded social services . She goes back to SF and tells a group of mexicans at some church that deportation is wrong because it is breaking up families and it must stop and stop now......that is not the way all of us taxpayers feel about it.
    • Steve  •  Fair Oaks, California  •  4 mths ago

      Financial status

Nancy Pelosi is among the richest members of Congress,[109] with an estimated net worth of approximately $58 million, the 12th highest estimated net worth in Congress, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics[110]

While members of Congress are not required to disclose their exact net worth, organizations such as the Center for Responsive Politics prepare estimated ranges based on public disclosures. The CRP's midpoint estimate of the Pelosis' net worth is $58,436,537 as of 2009, the most recent year for which figures are available, with a possible range from $7 million to $124 million.[111]

In addition to their large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, the couple also owns a vineyard in St. Helena, California, valued between $5 million and $25 million.[citation needed] Pelosi's husband also owns stock, including $1 million in Apple Inc.[citation needed], and is the owner of the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.
