Perfumania's key sales figure up 0.8 percent

BELLPORT, N.Y. (AP) — Perfumania Holdings Inc. said Thursday that revenue in stores open at least a year increased 0.8 percent in October.

The measurement is considered an important yardstick of performance for retailers because it excludes results from stores that opened or closed within the last year.

Perfumania said that this measure fell 2 percent in the third quarter. So far this year, revenue at stores open at least a year has dropped 0.4 percent.

Total revenue increased 2 percent to $18.1 million for October. Total revenue for the third quarter was nearly flat at $59.3 million versus $59.5 million. Year to date, the company's total revenue is nearly flat at $180.7 million versus $180.2 million.

In the year through September, revenue has been nearly unchanged at $162.6 million.

Perfumania has 347 perfume stores in the U.S.
