Yahoo! News is asking readers and voters to share brief anecdotes and photos from Election Day. Here are one voter's observations.
FIRST PERSON | ROANOKE, Va. --In 34 years of voting, I have never waited more than 10 minutes to cast a ballot. Today my husband and I and several hundred others were in line for a little more than two and a half hours. We also had to park about three blocks away. The wait, however, was orderly. There was no pushing or shoving. I heard no complaints except for people expressing that they were stiff and sore.
My daughter stood in line for close to four hours at her precinct, with her three children in tow. She said one voting machine stopped working. And aside from that everything went smoothly.
The photos with this story were taken at the William Ruffner Middle School voting precinct in northwest Roanoke.
