HOUSTON, Mo. - This town in south-central Missouri in recent weeks has seen more rain than we have seen in many past years.
The flooding has taken a toll on our roads and waterways like never before. We have seen upward of two to three inches of rain in a day. This really has washed the roads out, and land erosion is at an all-time high. Personally, I have seen flooding on my own property that has actually altered the land. We live off the grid in an area that has two ways out. Both ways cross over low crossings that are connected by the Big Piney River; these roadways were severely flooded to a point that we could not get out of our area. Specifically, Lundy and Author roads areas were closed off, and we were stranded for days until the high waters receded. Check out these pictures taken on the days the rain fell the most.
