BUSHKILL, Pa. -- The storm quickly covered the local roads with a sheet of ice on the Pocono Plateau in northeast Pennsylvania. Several fender benders slowed traffic as those that could wisely headed back to their homes earlier than usual. Just about everyone proceeded with caution as we traveled south off the plateau on Route 33.
As daylight faded we continued south on the PA turnpike extension. Looking out the window as the snow sped by reminded me of Hans Solo switching his spaceship into hyper drive. The traffic was light as we approached our Lansdale exit. The icy mix had turned over to rain. The roads remain slippery as we pull up into our driveway.
The full wrath of Christmas storm 2012 missed us this time. We were fortunate.
