Advocates carry "bayong," or native bags made of palm leaves, as they shout slogans encouraging people not to use plastic bags Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 in a public market in suburban Caloocan City, north of Manila, Philippines. As part of the global day of action on climate change, they urged the people to switch to the use of "bayong" as a concrete way of reducing environmental pollution associated with the proliferations of plastic bags in the society. less
