Apartment evictions in Madrid, Spain

As a prolonged recession continues in Spain, jobless workers, unable to afford to pay rent are evicted from their apartments. The state company sold rent-controlled apartments to private investor groups who now demand their eviction. The City Hall Housing and Land Company (EMVS) a state company with an aim to give housing solutions for people in need, sold 1.860 state apartments to private investors, last year. (AP)
