Belkiz Akkale 57, center, a Turkish folk singer sings along with protesters in front of a tent, in Gezi park near Taksim square in Istanbul, Friday, June 7, 2013. When asked Akkale said that she is at the park because despite of the tear gas it is the only place that she can breath fresh air and ideas. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been openly frustrated by the slow pace of his country's talks to join the 27-nation bloc and sounded irritated after the comments at a conference aimed at furthering Turkey's decades-long ambition.
